Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between primary and test scores in Russian USE?

Primary score is the sum of points for correctly completed tasks. Each task has its own weight (1–4 points).

Test score (secondary) is the 100-point scale for comparing all participants' results. This is what appears in the certificate and is used for admission.

The conversion is set by Rosobrnadzor separately for each subject.

When are the official USE 2026 conversion scales published?

Rosobrnadzor publishes official tables in May–June 2026 — after the main exam period.

Until then, the calculator uses preliminary scales based on 2025 data. They change very little and are suitable for planning.

What is the minimum score required to apply to a Russian university in 2026?

Rosobrnadzor (lower threshold for document submission):

  • Russian Language — 36 points
  • Profile Mathematics — 27 points
  • Physics, Chemistry, Biology — 36 points
  • History, Literature — 32 points
  • Social Studies — 42 points
  • Informatics — 44 points
  • Foreign Languages — 22 points

The Ministry of Education has raised thresholds for subordinate universities to 40–46 points for most subjects.

How does Basic Mathematics scoring work?

Basic Mathematics is graded on a 2–5 scale, not the 100-point scale. A grade of «3» requires 7 primary points out of 20.

Important: Basic Mathematics is not accepted for admission to most universities. Technical and economics specialties require Profile Mathematics.

What does «100 test points» mean and how to achieve it?

100 points is the maximum result. For some subjects you can achieve it without getting the maximum primary score:

  • Profile Mathematics: 30–32 primary → 100 test points
  • Russian Language: exactly 50 primary → 100 test points
  • Physics: 45 primary → 100 test points

This means you can make a few mistakes and still get the highest score.
